Meet Dr. Bhupi Chima

Functional Medicine Psychiatrist

Dr. Chima graduated from the Keck School of Medicine of USC after receiving a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a Minor in International Relations at the University of Southern California as part of their prestigious Baccalaureate/MD program. She served as General Psychiatry Chief Resident  with the John A. Burns School of Medicine on Oahu, Hawaii.

Dr. Chima has a longstanding interest in integrative and functional medicine.  She considered attending Naturopathic school but chose to pursue and MD instead, feeling that an inside understanding of conventional medicine would serve her best.

However, throughout medical school and residency training, she struggled with the disease-focused model of conventional medicine, with minimal emphasis on cultivating wellness and incorporating the spiritual aspects of one’s life in their healing journey.

She began her functional medicine training while still in residency, knowing the medication management model felt insufficient for the care she desired to provide to her patients. Dr. Chima is an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP). Additionally she is certified in Integrative Psychiatry and Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.

Dr. Chima is passionate about lifelong learning – she truly believes that education is the key to positive change. She has strong interests in yoga and meditation, nutrition, and regenerative agriculture as important components of her own health and wellness practices.  She is excited to be joining Dr. Tracy McCarthy and her team to expand access to functional medicine care and to continue to learn alongside her patients.
